That being said, travelling through airports this season can be a hellish experience. With all the restrictions that the Transportation Security Administration is bent on foisting on the unprepared traveller, it can take away the cheer from the holiday experience.

Like for instance, did you know that the TSA requires that all razors must be placed in your checked baggage?
In fact, anything with blades, points and spikes should be checked in. That includes knives, although why anyone would carry a knife while on a vacation is beyond us. This restriction also extends to gadgets or tools with blades attached.
This is pretty much inconvenient for those of us who like to carry our grooming tools in our carry-on. In fact, who even checks in a carry-on when they’re on a weekend getaway? It weighs you down and adds more stress, especially if, by crazy chance, the checked-in baggage gets left behind by the airline!
But yeah, that's how strict the TSA rules are. Safety and straight razors must be inside checked-in baggage. Only disposable and electric razors, however, are allowed on carry-ons, but then, nobody likes using them anyway.
In fact, regular users of straight and safety razors do not like using disposable razors when on vacation. Having been accustomed to their own home razors, they find it difficult to get a quick and easy shave from a disposable.
But since rules are rules, one has to follow them, even if it means checking in that carry-on so that you can bring your own straight razor. You don’t want to be that person holding up the line of stressed passengers at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening.
