I won a straight razor stand that I liked so much that I bought the DE stand. I am amazed at how well built they are, AND how well they survive Hong Kong humidity, and even having been accidentally knocked onto the marble floor.

Know what you're getting in this kit: a straight razor stand with loop for your straight razor brush holder. A shave bowl, and shave soap puck. This kit does not contain a razor or a brush.
There is a dimple in the base to hold your razor steady. All components are heavy, thick, and look and feel high quality. The shave soap has a very, very mild fragrance and as far as shave soaps go, I'm satisfied. I use the shave soap in the bowl provided by this kit to load my brush, and then a large mug to lather up.
My negatives are minor, in my mind. First, the base on the stand was quite loose when it arrived. For the dimple in the base to align below the loop as I assume it should, I have to leave the stand post "wobbly". When I tighten it down proper, it aligns (just off to the side of the razor loop). Second, the base on my stand came with numerous scratches on it. They were serious enough it took some major force/pressure and a microfiber rag to get them out. I'd tried more conventional methods to no avail for the first several weeks. But, looking at them annoyed me enough to try again, and microfiber worked to polish up the stand.
Overall, this is a high quality product with excellent presentation. I question the kit without a razor or brush, but I assume the market dictates - most who'd buy this stand probably already have a favorite brush and razor. Additionally, on the higher end price-wise of the primary competition I'd assume (but could be wrong about that).
