✔️ Soap Bowl
This scuttle definitely improved my shave experience. If you haven’t experienced a nice hit shave lather I highly suggest you pick up a naked armor scuttle and give it a try.
Guys, this was precisely what I was looking for. A slightly oversized, heavy, quality shaving cup.
The internal ""warm water channel"" works exactly as advertised. When filled with hot water, the cup becomes hot to the touch, warming your shaving cream and/or soap.
The indentations are perfect for getting a quality lather on good shaving cream and/or soap. Easy to clean, and should you require it, pop it right into the dishwasher and forget about it. Finally, it looks good, feels manly, and I like it in my everyday bathroom kit.
But! The damn Cork... Let's talk about the Cork!
It is a cheap, right-out-of-the-mill Cork. It is low quality and flakes if you scratch it moderately with your thumbnail. That isn't a big deal, but seems strange when paired against such a nice shaving cup.
But here is the problem. The cork is EXACTLY the right size for the warm water channel. This means that if you push it down with light force, it will go parallel to the surface and be difficult to pry out of the hole when finished.
Finally, if you're a functional moron like me, any ham-handed attempts to get the cork back out result in shoving the cork INTO the warm water channel. No! My Cork!!! I've been working at it for several minutes, like trying to dig termites out of a termite mound. Guys! My tools aren't working, and I can't get the Cork out.
To the manufacturer, please consider oversizing the corks. That would make it simple to push in and remove. Finally, it is impossible to be pushed into the warm water channel by idiots like me. The cork is an odd detail to screw up with such a quality shaving cup. Or, consider another type of stopper for the water channel that I can't conceptualize now?
This came very nicely packaged. So far I really like the way this keeps the lather fairly warm. Very nice looking also! You have to be careful not to get too large of a soap puck or it won’t go down far enough into the dish for you to have room to build lather. Other than that, this was a great addition to my shave routine.
I own several different types of shaving mugs, bowls and scuttles to include my favorite Nova Scotia made "Sarah Bonneyman Moss Scuttle" and "Dirty Bird" scuttles with weep holes. The Moss type scuttles are double wall ceramic with an inner chamber filled with hot water such as this fine Silver Fox. This Silver Fox quickly warms generated lather and keeps it warmer than all my other non-steel units. There are a few videos depicting the two types of Silver Fox scuttles, the classic ceramic as well as this stainless version. One video shows the rubber cork and its possibility of dropping into the inner chamber. I have drilled a hole through the width of the top end of the stopper and inserted a stainless 2" roll-pin through the hole, that issue is solved. Great purchase from Amazon
